How can I use Aol Instant Messenger file sharing and picture sharing while using norton? Norton is blocking me from using the picture sharing or video features on AOL Instant Messenger. Even when I have AIM set to allow in my firewall settings, or even when I turn the Norton firewall off, it still doesn't work. What can I do?

G replied: "To add ports to the filter list: 1. In the Main window, click Options. If a menu appears, click Norton Internet Security. 2. Click the Firewall tab. 3. Under HTTP Ports, click Add. 4. Type a port number and click OK. 5. Repeat for all the non-standard ports you are using. If all else fails you might have to use a different anti virus."

Is there an Australian mobile phone company that can carry AOL instant messenger? I would like to download AIM/AOL Instant messenger for my phone. I have a Nokia E65 but can not find a download for AOL instant messenger (or even text message forwarding) for Australian billers. Can someone please help me? Big points for the person that helps.

Erphan replied: "This is a hard one but I'll give you my opinion on what I would do if i were in your situation, though. Ok, so if your in Australia, i'm sure they use AIM there too, but I'm not so sure if they have it as a cell phone app (that's supported by the carrier). Is your Nokia E65 an unlocked phone or a carrier provided locked phone? There is quite a difference in that matter as the OS loaded onto the phone by the carrier (if its a locked phone) can be more restricted than an OS in a phone that came unlocked. There is an AIM application available for the Symbian OS on the E65. Or you can do what I do with Yahoo! Messenger and setup Message forwarding to your cell number and you can reply to the text message number provided. The carrier may charge you extra but here in the United States AT&T Mobility doesn't charge us for it. If you acquired AIM for your phone as a Java Application, the carrier could only bill you the data costs and maybe the text messaging cost (at the standard rate per message depending on your plan), they can't really stop you from using AIM on your Symbian phone if its as a Java application. Well I hope this has helped you somehow, I did really try my best."

Is it possible to recover AOL Instant Messenger conversations from a year ago? I am trying to recover some conversations I had on AOL Instant Messenger with a friend of mine a year or so ago. I don't have Trillian or any of those programs that seem to log conversations, and I'm not sure if AIM logs conversations anywhere. Does anyone know if AIM automatically logged conversations prior to version 6.0 (maybe in some wierd hidden place)? And if they can be recovered? The older AIM had manual archiving? I Still have an older version of AIM. Where is the archiving option?

katfood781 replied: "not enless you had the arcive turned on"

Christina replied: "Hey doll, sorry to inform you that you had to manually turn on archiving for your messages to be logged. -Christina"

J replied: "i dont think u can unless you saved the conversation"

Why does AOL Instant Messenger disconnect whenever I turn on my Playstation 3? My computer is on a Linksys wireless router. When I turn on my Playstation 3, it connects wirelessly to the router for internet access. I manually set it with an IP address and it works fine. However, I always get disconnected from AOL Instant Messenger. What's causing that? Does anyone have any ideas?

Andy M replied: "router is probably being interupped but you can do this go to this website aim there"

Ryan W replied: "The playstation 3 is probably overtaking the port on which AIM is communicating on. By default this is port 5190. Yours may differ. The below link will give you more details about it than you could imagine."

Joe replied: "It is well known in the PS3 and AOL IM circles that the two don't get along very well. PS3 is a bully and probably pushed AOL out of the port you are using to connect."

Can you chat to someone from AOL instant messenger to MSN messenger? I've had hotmail for a long time and I don't like my email address. I think my account will expire soon and the problem is, when it expires all my friend won't be able to chat to me on MSN messenger anymore! I'm thinking of taking out an email address with AOL and getting AOL instant messenger instead! So can I chat to my friends from AIM to MSN messenger?

chucky replied: "yes i think so"

How can you use and is it possible to use HTML codes on an Aol Instant Messenger IM screen? I've tried to use HTML codes to make symbols like hearts and spades come up in my IM windows, but it never works. I don't know if I am using the wrong code or if I have to change a setting, but it doesn't work. Does anyone here know how to get HTML codes to work on AOL Instant Messenger IM's? If you do, how do you do it and what codes do you use? Thanks! @>-'-,--

mark b replied: "Try this site. It is all about HTML and codes. Its cool because the codes are created in text boxs and you just copy & paste. Cool animations to. dont add www when adding it in the address bar. Hope this helps"

isaac_moore91 replied: "Most IMs aren't HTML supported."
