B-Dub replied: "I am factory authorized for Epson. It's a good sign that the projector is still running. It sounds like the lamp is blown or broken. There should be an access door on the side or the bottom with possibly a single screw that can be removed to access the lamp area. The lamp will usually have 2 silver screws holding it in place. Take these out, firmly grasp the handle on the lamp while holding the projector firmly, and gently pull the lamp out of the projector. You may have to wiggle the lamp slightly while you are pulling it. In case the lamp is still good... be very careful not to touch the lamp itself as oils from your skin could leave spots that will heat up and damage the lamp when it powers on.
Visually inspect the lamp...if it has any black or white spots inside on the globe, or if the vacuum is lost you will see a crack in it somewhere on the inside or outside. Usually the lamp element is shattered and you will see tiny bits of loose glass inside of it.
If the lamp is bad, which it probably is, do a search for 'replacement lamp for Epson xxxx" (xxxx is the model #).
If you want, give me the model # of the projector and I'll let you know what lamp you need and its part #. By the way...projector lamps range in cost between $150 and $500 depending on brand and model.
Hope this helps. good luck"
How can i hook up surround sound on my epson ex50 projector? I just got a new epson ex50 projector and it has a built in speaker but i want external sound system.I cant seem to find a plug in for external sound is there some kind of adapter i could buy for this.
Brad/Diana B replied: "No there's no adaptor as most projectors are input devices only so you can't get surround sound. Projectors usually have either a mono (one) or stereo ( two) speaker setup. they are not made, nor are they really intended to be used as a full system. The only way to get surround sound is to really, bypass the audio inputs all together on the projector and run the audio through a surround sound receiver and just connect the video to the projector."
Epson Moviemate Digital Projectors? I was looking into getting a Epson Moviemate Digital Projector -- (possibly the 50 model), and was wondering how well it worked?
I was also wondering how well it can take abuse? Its portability feature is nice, but the constant pickup and setting down I'm worried will damage the DVD player. Any thoughts?
noimage2000 replied: "It should work pretty well even though Epson usually makes projectors for PC, not TV. If anything, the constant moving of the unit will mis-align the lens, bet should not damage the DVD player."
vicseo replied: "Even though the Moviemate is an all-in-one LCD projector, you should consider the possibility that the DVD is subject to a lot of heat buildup from the project lamp next to it. I'd go with a separate component configuration so that there is some distance between the projection lamp and the DVD player. Also are you aware that this LCD projector is not very bright when measuring the cinema screen setting so your room must be very dark and you'll have to reduce the overall image in order to preserve the limited initial brightness.
Perhaps consider a DLP projector which generally is brighter than a LCD projector overall.
Good luck!"
Is Epson S3 projector still avaidable for purchase or not? I never ever used a projector. And i heard that Epson S3 Projector is a good projector. Does someone know if they still sell that projector?
Colorful L replied: "I saw it at amazon.con but price is gone up,too pricey."
I am buying an Epson 6100 projector, what fixed screen should I get? Is there a particular fixed screen I should get for the Epson 6100 projector? I want the screen to be 106" diagonal. What should I be looking for in a screen? ex. gain, manufacturer etc.
thanks.

Adam T replied: "Here is what you should consider when buying a screen.....
1. which aspect ratio do you need? Will you be watching 16:9 HDTV or will you be watching DVD movies which come in three or four different formats. Or do you plan on watching 4:3 images......your projector is 1080p....so I would buy a 16:9 ratio screen in the size you mentioned.
2. how dark is your room......keep in mind, with a projector, the absence of light is what produces a black image......so if you have some ambient light in the room without the projector turned on, you should not get a white screen......however, despite your projectors awesome contrast ratio, the actual brightness isn't spectacular (but it's OK)......I would suggest a light-grey screen if you have a dark-room. You don't have a bright enough projector to allow for a true, dark-grey screen unless you really have some ambient light (but in this case I would get a brighter projector as well).......white screens may look bright, but make sure your projector doesn't have some type of bulb dimming software (Optoma calls it "Image AI", sorry for not looking into Epson for ya.....but I'd assume it isn't too different).....this feature makes your picture flutter and in my opinion, should be turned off (so instead of your projector having an 18,000:1 contrast ratio....it's probably closer to 8,000:1 with the image AI feature turned off)
3. Do you want a painted screen or a actual framed screen?.....think about this, because you may have a perfectly flat wall where you want the picture to be, you could save yourself money and not compromise on image quality with a properly painted wall........I personally love my painted wall, but I consider myself handy and I can paint without having roller-marks where I painted my screen..........either buy the screen or buy a product called "screen goo".....you can find it here:
that size screen should cost about $200 to $275 in paint (base coat and top coat).....the paint has silver shavings to create a reflective surface painted on drywall......it is also very thick and dries to a similar texture as a screen.
It is also important that you surround your image with a black border......the black border tricks your mind into thinking that the contrast ratio is higher than it really is.......if your screen is too big, you will be able to see the greyish blank area around the image and you will know that the black isn't truly black.......I have a flat-black front wall, and a flat-black cieling in my home cinema.........because light and reflection is so important with a projector, these are all things you need to concern yourself with......the black cieling is important because the screen reflects light on the cieling (almost like a reflecting pool). This isn't important with a TV because a normal living room is lit up.....but a dark room will make a reflection much more obvious.
I honestly hope this helps and doesn't make a simple question seem difficult. I beleive you spent a good chunk of change on this projector. You hould do this right.
In general......use a grey screen if you have ambient light in the room, use a light grey screen if you have a dark room. Do not use a white screen unless your projector really doesn't have a contrast-enhancing feature installed that dimms the light output............also, a tight, black border will make your image look awesome.....do not underestimate the value of a border."
Cable for epson projectors? To connect the projector to the computer, do I need a male to male VGA cable or do I need a female to male cable?
Thanks!
classicsat replied: "Female-Female. That is standard for any display device with a detachable VGA cord."
will a regular epson dvd projector be able to play blu ray dvd movies? I bought an Epson Movie projector from Sam's club one year ago. Will I be able to play blu ray movies on it
The S replied: "you can play blueray movies on anytype of set but you will only get the best quality if you have a 1080p set but it depends on what outputs are on the back of the blueray player"
Reddmud replied: "you only need a Blue Ray DVD player to play blue ray DVD's. The television will display whatever video is supplied to it.
I have a 720P projector with a blue ray dvd player connected to it. Although Blue Ray is capable of 1080P, I'm only viewing 720P because that is what my projector will display. The same will be true for you. Most people cannot tell the difference between 720P and 1080. 720 is HD quality."
