wellslogan replied: "This is what happens. A friend of yours on Facebook gets a message like this, and they go to the site. It asks them sign up for an account, and has them enter a password, their name, their email, and the friend who sent the message to them. They do so, and most likely use the same email and password they use for their Facebook account. The site then tries to use the email and password your friend put in to access your friend's Facebook account. Then, once they have access, they are able to send YOU the message that got your friend. If you put in your email address, a password, and all the other stuff, they might be able to access your Facebook account. You do not want this. Instead, merely delete the message, and tell your friend to change their password, and in the worst case scenario, change their email address as well, especially if he uses the same password for facebook and his email. I got the 'facebook virus' and deactivated my account temporarily and dumped the old computer. Will this work? I got the facebook virus because I'm an idiot. I got it on a PC that later turned to a zombie. A computer expert came in and cleaned the laptop and everything on it, at all. On my Mac, I deactivated my facebook for 2 or 3 weeks. I'm afraid to reactivate it in case the virus is still there but idk. Can anyone help?

Have u heard of a facebook virus that automatically downloads a file? I keep getting this download while on facebook, it's named 'pop' and is supposed to be a mp3 sound file but the length is 00:00:00. a friend told me it's a virus, but he didn't know what kind. I deleted all the files, and am running my windows defender virus scan. Is this a known virus? Do you know anything about it? Is there anything else I need to do to get rid of it? chris_eoe replied: "It is possible it may be a virus. Try getting an anti-virus program that scans your internet connections (like Kaspersky, but the license key is always the problem) mp3 files with length 00:00:00 is quite suspicious. Don't open it. As for getting rid of it, I don't know yet."

Facebook virus through a link in a message sent from a friend? I think I received a virus through facebook today via message in my inbox. I ran a virus scan and everything was fine, and thus far nothing is wrong with my computer. I'm just not sure if it's one of those creepy viruses that screws up your facebook profile or sends automatic messages to random friends...or something worse! Does anyone know how to be sure there's nothing wrong with my facebook or computer?? Has anyone heard of any new viruses running through facebook??
